so I was stuck for the first time since I started writing Grimoire, just like there was a big old road block sign smack across the road. Everything I wrote went no where or dead-ended and none of it rang true. I had written maybe 800 words or so of the new chapter and then I got sick. Just a bad head cold, nothing serious, but I couldn’t even think about Grimoire. Until today. I decided I wasn’t going to be stuck anymore and I deleted what I’d written without even looking at it. And yes it was a little scary but I knew it was the right thing to do. I just left the outline for the chapter, the basics of what I had to accomplish.
Then I divided it into three scenes and wrote the scenes out, decorated them, peopled them, made them speak enough to flesh it out later and voila! I’m back in business.
So, what tricks of the trade have you discovered lately?
That's great, Marcy. I've done exactly what you did. It's hard to hit the delete button, but sometimes that's the catalyst to bigger and better writing. I've learned lately that I really am a writer. I've found people, even strangers, who believe in my work--which astounds me. So I guess I'm growing. Good thing. <3
