the real estate section

I'm not sure why, but I've always had a fondness for the real estate section. I can remember being a kid with the Patriot Ledger spread out before me. And even though we lived in the most awesome Victorian house with a wrap around porch I was still perusing the ads for something better.
"Look," I'd say to my dad, "This house has FIVE bedrooms, a fenced in field AND a barn with stalls. And it's only $62,000."
I don't remember what he said in reply - if anything - but I never stopped enjoying the real estate section. These days I go to the NYT real estate page and look at what's for sale in Sonoma or Sarasota. Sometimes I stray a little farther. Here's my latest find:

for $999,000 this house in Belize could be mine, beach and pool included...

  1. Haha...I love that price. Like the extra thousand would break someone able to purchase the house, anyway. :)

When the hubs and I were first married, we used to drive all over the place checking out real estate. Just dreaming...

  2. Gorgeous! I sometimes watch Househunters International on the H&G channel and dream and drool, mostly the latteer!

  3. ..... oh man, we need to plan a writer's retreat in Belize, methinks. Because how much fun would it be to gather together all our writer friends in a house like that and write all day and night (in between swims in the Caribbean Sea!)

Okay, now I'm going to be daydreaming all day :D

  4. Only $999,999? I'll take two! :)

I love reading the real estate section... maybe if we all pool our money together we can afford that house!

  5. I am partial to yellow houses and I like the palm trees. I also like your pretty header.

  6. Heh, heh, heh ... I don't know what your dad said either, but I'll be he did some muttering outside of your hearing!

And I agree with Jennifer -- maybe we can all pool our money together and work out a time share for that place in Belize!

  9. Hi again! The caramel sauce is super duper easy. Stores well overnight in a glass container. But the caramel popcorn doesn't sit as well overnight. Hope you ate something yummy today, as well.

  10. Hmmm...I think Jennifer is right! If we all pool our money we could be sitting by the pool with our laptops...

  11. Looking for a roommate? We could get that place together. Or if we really didn't want to live together, we could go on six month splits. I will take January through June, you can have July through December. See, it's all worked out.
