Uniform

In the phonetic alphabet, Uniform represents the letter U. My ever so reliable dictionary says that as an adjective, uniform means 1. always the same, unchanging. 2. consistent in appearance. As a noun: 1. a distinctive outfit intended to identify those who wear it as members of a specific group. 2. a single outfit of such apparel.

I don't know if any of you remember, but this is the outfit I pictured Hugh (a ghost from my novel GRIMOIRE) wearing - minus the sword. But he definitely had a hat like that he liked to remove with a flourish :)

  1. I like this getup. I use the phonetic words all the time in my job... and can actually spell words out using them on a regular basis.... it's a litle weird, but in the airline industry it's a way of life.

    1. I like it, too. I found it while researching clothing for my novel which is set during the Regency era.

  2. Ooh, that uniform reminds me of what that ghost in Vassalboro is said to wear. Have you heard about the 'Captian' occupying that house in Vassalboro? You should Google it. ;D

    1. oh, there were some lovely gowns from that era, although some might be considered a bit risque being practically see through unless one was wearing a chemise - which some women did not!

  8. What did he use instead of a sword?

    1. Well, being a ghost he couldn't exactly use a sword and anyway the uniform was the one he was wearing as part of his employment and since he died in it he gets to wear it forever. But Hugh made the most of it. he's that kind of guy :)

    1. I actually think it does look fairly comfortable - esp. in comparison to some other outfits of the period. Except for the neck thing. I don't know what that is!
