Sunday pics - It's Fall, and you know what that means...

Pumpkinfest is coming!!!

Yes, we Mainers celebrate the oddest things but hey, when the weather turns, entertainment must be found, and trust me, the Pumpkinfest qualifies as fine entertainment...

pretty cool eh?

of course, it's not all fun and games...

ah, to the rescue!

As you can see, it's a lot of fun and if you ever wanted to visit the area, the Pumpkinfest is a good excuse to do so. But don't worry if you can't come, because I'll be heading into town to take piccies of this year's fabulous pumpkins and maybe I can get some of the Regatta again. Possibly the Pumpkin Catapult - in which an old wreck of a car is catapulted to death by giant pumpkins. Hey, I told you we know how to have fun around here, didn't I?

Have an awesome Sunday :)

    1. I don't grow big pumpkins or know how to paint on them - although it might be fun to learn how. Not sure what kind of paints would work; something weather resistant since they sit outside for a few weeks.

  5. Holy cow -- this is great. Have you ever checked out the show Punkin Chunkin on the science channel? I think it's still on streaming Netflix. Too much fun.

    1. We do. It may be silly but it's fun and it gets people out and involved, brings tourist dollars in, and everybody has a good time. All we need is some nice fall weather :)

  9. Never would I have guessed those were pumpkins if you had not said so. I was staring at the first photo thinking what the heck is that? and then read the caption. Ah ha!

  11. Now those are pumpkins!
Are they good to eat or are they just grown for, um, "ornamental" purposes?

    1. they are grown for the pumpkinfest and the biggest ones make it to the street to be painted. The biggest and heaviest gets a prize and it's quite the badge of honor around here to have grown the heaviest pumpkin.
