This time is definitely it vs omg I totally suck

That's the roller coaster in Queryland. You get a request and you feel all giddy and hopefull, thinking, maybe this is it, this is the one. Then they pass and you think, omg, I suck so bad and this story is utter crap why the eff do I even waste my ...and then another request ...

Meanwhile, I haven't been writing diddly but I'm a good ways into THE DARKEST MINDS and I am enjoying it as much as CREWEL.

  2. Sheesh! and all this time I thought I was the only one who felt that way.

I sincerely need a diversion...and a new series of books might do the trick. Thanks for the tip!

  3. Yeah, Queryland is definitely a roller coaster. (While Submission is purgatory.)

Lately, my diversion has been watching Supernatural on Netflix. Oh, those Winchester boys!

  4. Yeah, it's hard not to toss your cookies when you're on the query roller coaster. Hang in there (or should I say hang on). And I'll have to check out that book. The cover is calling to me. :)

  5. Hang in there! Distractions, and writing the next book help me through it. That and a whole lot of chocolate.

  6. Queryland will tests the sanity of all of us. One minute you are screaming with joy and then the next you want to carve your heart out with a spoon. Diversion is good. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  7. It doesn't get any easier even when you have an agent, trust me!

    Just keep writing and working.

    1. I know, there's always waiting, and always that fear that whatever you've written, be it your first book or your tenth, is crap while at the same time you hope it just might be tiny bit brilliant.

  8. queryland is a cruel amusement park of daredevil rollercoasters, taunting fun houses and teasing flying carpets that jerk out from underneath you...until you find the elusive ring top master who sets you on a pedestal!

at least you have something good to read!

  9. Have a heaping serving of fresh lobster salad, and keep on reading. (Don't you guys eat lobster every day?)

    1. I eat lobster maybe once a year. I just can't bring myself to throw them in the pot. I know, silly, I don't feel the least bad eating fish. But then I didn't see it flopping on the deck gasping for air. I should probably be a vegetarian because I'm an awfully guilty carnivore.

      I will, however, keep reading!

  10. I haven't reached that point in Novel Land yet, but I get that lesser roller coaster whenever I get an email in response to a short fiction submission. "Oh my gosh, this will be the one!" Nope. Sigh. Good luck!

  12. Yup, I'm right there with you in the despairing pit of Rejectionland. Requests are still out there, but the rejections are really piling up, and I haven't been able to find any enthusiasm for my new project. If they didn't like the last one, why will they like this new one? *sigh* But I keep plugging along, even if my strides are very slow...
I wish you get that agent offer you deserve! :-)
