Alex who?

Well, I couldn't resist, after all he is everywhere, and yet, no one seems to know what he looks like, who he really is. He's like this mysterious dude who teleports around the blogosphere, commenting EVERYWHERE. How does he do it? I know he has a system, a method, but it's pretty strange how no one else can imitate him. Maybe he has the secret to time travel. Hmm...Anyway. One thing everyone wants to know is what does Alex look like?

I'm thinking 5'11", brown hair blue eyes, fairly fit, and I suspect he smiles a lot. I mean he must, right? His third book is due out soon, he's got like a gazillion followers, and he totally loves his wife, all of which means he's probably pretty happy. Good reasons to smile, yes?

But who could possibly play him if a documentary was made of his life? And what the heck would they call it? I'm thinking NINJA, or maybe THE CAPTAIN. And if I had to choose who to play the part, I'd pick Simon Baker (from The Mentalist), mainly because of the smile and the twinkle in his blue eyes.

As for who he reminds of, the answer to that is obvious. No one! There is only one Alex Cavanaugh!

And now for my flash fiction, honoring his ninjaness...(which will be totally silly and stupid and way too happy)

Once upon a time there was a guitar playing ninja named Alex Cavanaugh. He was a happy little ninja, had a wife, a couple of guitars, and a happy life. But then he got this idea for a story about a guy and a spaceship (called a cosbolt), and how the guy learns an important lesson, and he thought, man, I could write this! Which he did. And then he thought, maybe I could sell this! Which he also did. But then they said, hey, if you're going to be an author, you're going to need a blog. Hence the birth of the blog, and before you know it he had a bunch of followers cheering him on, and every time they posted anything he was like right there, commenting, and when they were worried or down, he always had something encouraging to say until finally he thought, hey! We need IWSG, the Insecure Writers Support Group, which helps all those silly writers with their insecurities. But what the ninja didn't know when he started all this was how much happier he would be by spreading all his happiness around.

Happily, the end

I agree with the "smile and twinkle in his blue eyes" bit... and that there is only one of him!

  2. Awesome flash fiction. Very creative. I think this is going to get us all wondering more what Alex looks like. Ha! But the important thing is how awesome he is.

  7. It's funny, even though a lot of people don't use a photo in their profile, in my head I have a picture and voice for them, just like characters in a book. In my head, though, Alex has darker hair, but Simon Baker is a fun choice. :)

And, yeah, that whole being in love with the wife as much as he is is adorable. :)

  10. I can relate to Alex remaining anon. I don't have a pic of me anywhere (well, one, but I'm not telling where) and I like my privacy.
