The well is dry/I got zip

So. You may have noticed I haven't been around much. There's a reason for that. I'm just not sure what it is. Maybe I just don't have anything I consider interesting enough to say any more. Maybe it's because I still haven't adjusted to my new schedule of working six days a week. Or maybe it's because right now I need to pour all my creative energy into what I'm working on now. Honestly, I'm not sure. I used to be able to blog AND write. I thought I'd never run out of things to say. But right now the only thing I'm finding compelling is my as yet untitled wip (I'm calling it by it's first chapter's name for now).

This doesn't mean I won't be posting. In fact, I actually read another book for the Cephalopod Coffeehouse, and Dianne and I have two First Impressions for April with room for one more. I also plan to celebrate a special anniversary at some point, maybe after A-Z is over, and I will certainly continue to visit all of you. So I'm not leaving. I just won't be here as much, at least for now.

In the meantime, I've added the first chapter of my WIP to my pages so you can see what I've been working on, and I'll leave you with a happy pic of some place I'll be visiting soon - for TWO WEEKS!!!

That might be another reason my creative energy is at an all time low; I need a vacation!

  1. It does get harder to come up with new things to say after a few years. I'm still waiting to hear about some of the more unusual stuff/people you've dealt with at your pawn shop. Ha! Make that an A to Z theme. :P

    1. No a-z for me this year, but that's a good idea for next year!

  2. That's why I only blog once a week. Except next month of course.
    Where is that? Florida?

  3. I just got off a year and a half blogging break, and honestly it was so refreshing. Now I'm ready to get back to it and it's exciting again. College + blogging + writing = way too much work for me. So I took a break. :)

    1. I'm hoping a little break will leave me feeling refreshed, too.

  4. We all go through fallow periods. I'm just coming off one with my WIP. So, there's hope.

    1. I have no doubt it will be - just the fact that I'll be warm and wearing shorts and bare feet for 2 whole weeks will be pretty wonderful :)

  6. Blogging less, like once a week, could help you stay focused and is what most of us are doing. I'm struggling to read blogs so many days as work is taking lots of my time too. Don't give up. We'll both figure it out.

  7. I've been going through exactly this. Amazing how the day job can dry us up for the somewhat creative stuff.

  8. Sometimes when I get hot and heavy into writing/editing my book, the blogging tends to suffer. We gotta make some sacrifices. Right? :)

  9. Sometimes a break is good and a two week vacation at your picture spot sounds fabulous! I've definitely been in the blogging slump - I thought I got it back but I'm realizing not really. I'm just resigned now to blogging once in awhile. :)

  10. I'd say many of us don't have much to say! Sometimes I feel like I'm just rambling. Thank goodness for writing prompts (like A to Z) and guest blogs to give me stuff to post. Glad to hear you're being productive--that's what's most important!

    1. Slowly productive, lol. And I'm going to miss a-z. I had a theme picked out but it will have to wait til next year *sigh*

  11. We all need breaks. I take off a solid three to four months a year from writing and blogging. Every year. I could not survive any other way.

Sometimes pushing on s the worst thing you can do. Take a vacation, even if it's in the comforts of your own home.

    1. I think I've been taking too many of the in home variety - in front of the television. But I'm counting that as research...

  12. I know I find it much harder to blog with my current work schedule. It's harder to get around to different people's blogs and I didn't used to have that problem. My schedule just makes it difficult and when I'm off work I have ranch chores and house chores and I'm usually zonked and just want to be away from the computer--especially after 6-8 hrs on the blasted thing. I'm still struggling with it all.
