Felled

So. Buffy. And for those who don’t watch feel free to skip this part. Anyway. I’m at the end of Season 2, and things are getting good. Spike and Buffy are about to have a chat about Angel. I love when good and evil come together—briefly—to ally against a greater evil, and Spike is so good at being bad. He’s like Billy Idol if he ever became a vampire. The other great thing about watching Buffy is there isn’t that urgency to binge watch like there is with something new, which gives me a break from writing, but not an excuse to stay away.

As for revisions, I am now up to Chapter 31, which is more than the half way point. I would probably be a bit further along if I hadn’t been felled by a horrible head cold that basically stole 2 days away from me. I don’t know about you but head colds ruin my creativity. I did however finish reading The Girl from Everywhere (which I will review for the Cephalopod Coffeehouse at the end of the month), read Pretty Girls over the course of Saturday and We Were Liars Saturday night.

Lastly, I did get to see Rogue One over the holidays but I didn’t like it as much as I hoped. I would however go see it again to make sure. Loved the Imperial droid and seeing a few familiar faces. Couldn’t help but think of Carrie Fisher.

Now, tell me how things are going with you. Anything new or notable?

  1. Sorry you didn't like Rogue One that much. It's now my favorite Star Wars film.
Glad you're at the halfway point with revisions. Now, no more colds!

    1. I really wish I liked it more. Not that I didn't like it, just, not as much as I hoped.

  2. Glad you've been resting since you got your cold. I just saw Rogue this weekend with my boyfriend. We didn't like it that much either.

    1. I think I was wanting to love it, and I didn't, which was disappointing.

  3. Could do with a re-watch of Buffy for the nostalgia, haven't seen Rogue One yet!

    1. Buffy is definitely one of my most favorite shows ever and so worth re-watching.

  4. Is this your first time watching Buffy? You made me so nostalgic I want to re-watch (again.) The episodes you're watching make up one of the best written stories I've ever seen. I was just drained the first time I watched it.

  5. I never could get into Buffy or Angel. I read a lot over the holidays but now I'm in writing new stuff mode. 15K since the new year.

    1. I never watched Angel, but Buffy just rocks. Not only are so many of the episodes so perfect, Buffy is just one of the best kick-ass heroine ever.

  6. Yay for the progress of revisions.
Hiss and spit at acquiring a cold. They make a person feel unwell out of all proportion to the severity of the ailment don't they?
    Happy HEALTHY writing.

    1. That is so true! How can a little thing like a cold make one feel so awful?!

  7. Hope the cold has cleared up, Marcy. WOW, Susan has done a lot of writing since the new year! Good for her! And great news the rewrites are going well, Marcy. I only really started working today. I needed a break after an exhausting December. Onwards and upwards from here on in. Have a great month!

  8. I've only watched the 1st season of Buffy - loved it, but having a hard time finding time!!!
Head colds are such a drag. Hubby has the fever and chills going on right now - hoping I can steer clear! :)

  9. So many people say they love Rogue and an equal number shrug. So strange. I'll wait until it's out on pay per view.
The one book I really enjoyed is One Fell Swoop by Ilona Anderson. Really good series. Waiting on the new Fitz and Fool.
Sherlock is my latest passion, with Benedict Cumberbatch. I realize what I missed now.

  10. I kind of thought he was doing a Billy Idol thing in the portrayal of Spike. He complained of the bleaching of his hair and all.

Nothing new to report here. I haven't even been writing *sigh*

  11. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've tried on several occasions to watch Buffy..and just didn't care for it?!? Maybe I should get to the end of season two like you did... I really enjoyed the writing in We Were Liars, but even though I finished it a while ago, am still deliberating over how I felt about everything else. Curious what you thought. Christy

    1. I liken Buffy to Supernatural. The first season sets things up but it's mostly monster of the week, or in the case of Buffy, vampire of the week. But by the end of season one in both shows, the real story starts to come through and things get interesting. I will post a review on We Were Liars at some point.

  12. I haven't seen Rogue One yet and now I feel I can't for a while because, like you mentioned, Carrie Fisher's death is just too recent and sad. (Christy doesn't like Buffy?! OMG - I loved that series. I think it's one of the best series ever.)

  13. Nobody would make me go and watch Star Snores again, did not we suffer enough cinematic pain already :)
I'm translating King's Cage, it's dull as hell, makes me wanna kill, shoot or decapitate myself after every other sentence :) I will never finish the crap alive....

  16. My daughter and I are on season 6 of Buffy, I think. We haven't watched it in a while. Such a brilliant show!

Excellent progress on your manuscript. I'm in the middle of a rough draft. I've been slacking!

  17. I haven't done much writing recently due to a variety of factors, namely that my migraines and the preventative meds I was on just stole my ability to think. I didn't even read much in 2016 but I hope to remedy all these things in 2017 as I am now off most of my preventatives and my migraines are more controlled. Enjoy following you on FB! Cheers!!
