Need more tulips!

Last time I promised some more pics of tulips...

Yeah. Not too many, unfortunately. In fact, not nearly enough! I am going to make it my goal to order some tulip bulbs to plant in the fall so that next year, when I show you the pics of this garden, it'll look a whole lot better (I hope!). Honestly, I can't wait to retire (or partially retire) so I have more time to make the yard look pretty.

In other news, I made a small breakthrough on my WIP, which has clarified my ending, but also discovered (read: had it pointed out to me) a glaring omission, which will take a lot of work on my part to rectify. Can't wait to work on draft 2 (said with equal parts sarcasm and sincerity).

Finally, I finished the Rotherweird series and loved it. Also kinda want to live there even though there's no internet and I wouldn't be able to play 7Days2Die with my brother.

Currently reading The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert and just watched Frankenweenie

which almost made me cry.

  1. Draft two will be great! Believe it.
Not sure I've ever seen Frankenweenie. If I did, it was a lot time ago.

    1. I think you'd like it, assuming you like Tim Burton. I don't like everything he does, but I did love Frankenweenie.

  2. Don't WIPs always go through many drafts? Have fun and remember to stop and smell the tulips!

    1. Yes, sadly WIPS do not turn out perfect the first time even though I keep trying!!!

  3. The tulips plant amazed me to see it because tulips cannot grow in the city I live in. All three of their colors look astonishingly beautiful. Greetings from Indonesia.

    1. Tulips would not grow well in your heat I think. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Good luck with your WIP. And hooray for getting it to second draft stage.
I am obsessed with tulips (and bulbs generally). Lots of work, and also lots of pleasure.

    1. Yes, I think I may do some serious bulb buying this summer.

  5. Our tulips are long gone, we are in the season of irises currently and daisies too!

    1. Oh, you're way ahead of us here in Maine. Our lilacs are just coming out. Irises in a week or so I think.

  6. I planted about 100 tulip bulbs last year, and they came up great this year. I plan to plant more late summer.

Glad you had a breakthrough on your current manuscript.

  7. I do love the people that point out the glaring omissions in manuscripts. It sucks in the moment, but it makes the story so much stronger in the long run.

    1. That's why I love my critique partner. She never hesitates to point out what's missing, what could be better, and offer suggestions. CPs are the best.

  10. I love tulips!!
I'm at the same point with my new story. I've had it pointed out that something is glitchy ... and let the rewrite commence!

    1. At least with draft 2 it's all about making better and improving, which is slightly easier than coming up with everything, lol

  11. I've definitely never seen Frankenweenie! But I've read The Hazel Wood. I'll be interested in hearing what you think of it when you're finished. Yay for the breakthrough on your manuscript. I love revision. I'd rather revise for months and months than start a brand new story from nothing.

    1. I don't know, I get sick of revising after a while, and I do love coming up with shiny new ideas (too much, probably; I've got a lot waiting in folders to turn into actual stories).

  12. It's my first time knowing the story book The Hazel Wood, it sounds interesting because it manages to almost cry when you read it.
I also want to read this heartwarming story.
    Greetings.
