A Maine lobster bake

As you may remember class, we were talking about a lobster bake...

an old oil tank cut in half

This is what bakes the lobsters, and everything else. The one pictured is not my brother's but it looks quite similar. The locale is a bit different however...lol. My brother set his up at the edge of his lawn on cinder blocks. The seaweed goes in first, followed by the lobster, potato (wrapped in foil), corn, onions (I think they get wrapped, too), clams, and eggs on top. Top it off with seaweed, light the fire and in about 40 minutes everything will be ready.

There were maybe 30+/- people there, lots of kids, perfect weather, no mosquitoes, and a sunset that was unbelievable. I would have a picture of it (and a bunch of other stuff) if I had remembered to bring my camera (duh!).

This weekend I'm going to see Elysium with my other brother and son AND I may have come up with a new title for my novel which is still going by it's working title. My editor wants to sleep on it but she sounded hopeful and so am I. My book needs an official title!

So. What's new with you? Doing anything this weekend? Enjoying the summer? Reading a good book? Do tell...

Today

Today is day 3 of my vacation. I don’t have to go back to work until July 5th. The last two days I’ve been hanging with my sister and niece at the cottage they’ve rented. I haven’t seen them in two years!

We went to this lighthouse yesterday.

This morning we went to the lighthouse in Owl’s Head.

and I found this on the beach.

Now I’m home for the weekend - I’ll go back on Monday – and my son is on his own mini vaca with his gf to Monhegan Island. He’s bummed cuz it’s rainy and not quite warm considering it’s officially summer. But I don’t mind. I’ll have the house all to myself this weekend for a change. I can leave the chocolate I bought out on the counter and know it will be there in the morning. I can watch successive episodes of criminal minds and let the dog up on the couch to watch with me. I can pound keys until the wee house and turn my alarm off.
