thank you

KarenG over at Coming Down The Mountain mentioned something recently about losing followers and I don’t know if it’s happened to you but it happened to me. It was a few months back and I remember logging on and seeing my number of followers reduced – by one. I was devastated. What had I done? Did I post badly? Was I offensive? There was no way to know because whoever chose to unfollow me never let me know why. I just had to let them go.

But I’ll tell you something, losing one made me grateful for every follower I got after that and now that I’m up to 73 (woohoo!!!) I’m actually beginning to feel like there are a few people who find me worth reading. And for the girl who was always picked last for the team and teased relentlessly throughout junior high that means more than you can imagine.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks and give something back to all of you. So, for the rest of this month I’m giving away my one-of-a-kind bookmarks (scroll down to the right to see samples) to anyone who wants one. Just click on contact me and write bookmark in the subject line.

THANK YOU!

  1. Aw, it sucks to lose followers... but you get used to it. I lose about a follower a week, sometimes more than that. Oh well! Can't please 'em all, and I'm just grateful for the readers who read and come back and eventually become friends :)

  2. I totally lost a follower once too. Sad day. I took a look at your bookmarks. Did you draw those? They are awesome and I love the flower one!

  3. I think a few have lost the follower. It's probably the same follower. Perhaps they went offline. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  4. Don't worry about it! If that person never commented, then what's the loss? I've lost followers as well. Remember, your blog's self-image is not dependent on how many people follow it!

  5. I'm sorry for the blog follower who fell off the wagon, but maybe they had to give up their identity and go into the witness protection program. You never know.

  6. I know just what you mean about the being picked last thing and well worrying about people reading your posts... Thanks in return!

  7. Really?!! A free book-mark?!!! I'm a fiend for those things!!!

I wouldn't worry about the follower. I had that happen to me very recently. The day after they dropped me, three more people followed. Hang in there. Pretty soon, you'll be wondering how in the world you're going to be able to find the time to comment on everyone's blog! But it's a good thing:)

  8. I think you are doing great with your blog. Sometimes, um, mistakes are made trying to register and stuff. I know I'm following myself twice! and I still don't know how to remove it. LOL.

  9. You have MUCH good things to say and I've enjoyed your blog from the start. As for losing someone, eh, I feel anyway, if my blog isn't for someone, then they should go. And that's okay. I've left blogs, myself. Better to have a core group than just a high number of people who join, but don't read.

Anyway, love your blog. Much enjoyed. Congrats on 73 and Keep Being Yourself. That's what really matters.

  10. I can so relate to losing followers. I was so excited to be getting more and then started losing them. I try not to take it personally. We can't be all things to all people. Just like in real life. The most important thing is that you don't let this rattle you or shake your confidence. You have talent and passion and determination -- with or without the followers. Now go get 'em, Marcy.

  11. I wouldn't worry about it too much--people come and go and I'm sure you find you don't go on certain blogs like you once did too. It happens to me all the time and now I don't even flinch b/c there's nothing you can do ((hugs)) ;-)

  13. Unfortunately, followers come and go. Some stop blogging or maybe their interests change - the key thing is not to take it personally (but of course we do, anyway).

    The bookmarks are lovely!
