guess that character blogfest

The object is for you to guess what my character looks like and comment - if you feel like it. Here's my offering from my current (37,500 words in) work in progress:



"For one brief moment Arlen was happy. Extraordinarily so. She had completely forgotten all about the mirror and the grimoire and anything else to do with magick or witches. She was the girl she might have been had her parents lived and thrown her the ball she had so been looking forward to. She was being kissed, her first kiss, and it was lovelier than she had ever imagined, almost dreamy.

His lips were soft against hers, his tongue teasing, and his hand on her waist was sending delicious shivers up and down her body, making it tingle. She could feel his other hand at her neck, his fingers like feathers, tracing a line from her jaw all the way down –

“Excuse me…”

They broke apart instantly and Arlen felt her face flush. Dim light that spilled in from the hall, illuminating their intruder. She recognized him at once. Adrian.

“You,” she said, surprised.

He gave a little bow. “Miss Howard,” he said formally, “And Master Morgan. Forgive me for interrupting your little…tryst.”

“What do you want, Sinclair,” Nick said pointedly.

“I need to have a word with Miss Howard.”

“Really? And it couldn’t wait?”

“Until you were done seducing her?” Adrian said with a wry smile, “No, I think not.”

Nick gave him a black look but Adrian ignored it, waiting patiently until Arlen muttered a small curse.

“Very well,” she said, “What is it?”

“A private word,” Adrian said.

“Oh, so you can have a go?” Nick said.

“That’s enough!” Arlen glared at them both.
