Now, about comments and following. I read somewhere you should follow lots more blogs than you have followers and I do. The trouble is reading everybody’s blog AND commenting. So I want you all know, all you bloggers I follow, I actually do read your posts at least two to three times a week. I just don’t always comment. Sometimes I have nothing to say. Sometimes I do but someone else has already said it better. And sometimes I think I have something relevant to say. Of course, sometimes I’m wrong. But the point is I am reading what you’re writing, just not commenting all the time. So don’t stop. Because I truly believe that the more we write (whatever it is) the better we get.
And because spring is only a few weeks away and I can’t wait to hear the peepers (I promise to let you know as soon as I do – hmm, I wonder if I could record them…), here is something green.
My sister who's living in Singapore sent me this and for some reason it inspired me to write something that may or may not turn into a tale. Maybe it's all that green, I'm not sure. But I like it.
I read as many blogs as time allows. Some I read regularly but don't comment. Then every once in a while I contact the blogger directly and let them know how I feel about the marvelous things they post.
ReplyDeleteI also read a lot of blogs and comment infrequently. Sometimes I feel like it may be worse for me to leave a short comment saying something like "great post!" than not commenting at all.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Are "peepers" baby chicks? :-)
peepers are the frogs that live in the marsh, they start peeping when spring comes, let me know winter is finally over.
ReplyDeleteLove the peepers. We have tons out back. Hope your day is going well. As for comments and joining blogs - I don't feel obligated to either. I just do this for fun and it works for me that way. If blogging were an obligation or a job, I wouldn't bother with it. I already have two jobs. Don't need another. But that's me.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do feel obligated to get some dishes done. Think I'm going with some kind of chicken tonight. Nom nom nom.
I try to hit a hundred blogs a day, but I fall short more oftne than not. So it's all right.
ReplyDeleteI love to visit, but I never let it cut into my writing time.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see some green around here! We just got hit with more snow on Sunday. Looking forward to the peepers, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI miss peepers! I try to read and comment as much as I can, but it's a fine line between enjoying it and just cramming in as much blog time as I can while not having much fun or really engaging. Ah, balance...such a simple concept and SO TRICKY to find!
ReplyDeleteI just don't make blogs and obligation. This is something I do for fun. It's great fun, but fun none the less. And I love all the great people I've met. So great.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard, isn't it? I try to comment when I get there with just a few exceptions... I don't usually read the blogfests if I'm not participating, especially fiction excerpts... my reason is I think they deserve more attention and thought than I have time for.
ReplyDeleteI press follow easily, but it is mostly my blog roll I read from... those are people who have gone through a bit of a back and forth with me... commented a couple times... that kind of thing. I know people fall through the cracks and i feel badly, but I lack organization skills.
Mary, thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, two jobs? I hope you like at least one of them!
Alex, are you serious? A hundred? I bow in shame.
and thanks everyone for coming by. I promise to let everyone know as soon as I hear those peepers. Hopefully by the end of the month. I'm crossing my fingers.
