worst movie

First off, I don't have ten. I have five. And honestly, I wasn't actually planning to post anything. I was just going to check out what everyone else posted. But I figured what the heck so here's a few that I think meet the definition of worst movie ever.

First there's Robot Monster (1953), which even Wikipedia says is one of the "worst films ever made."  A rumor circulated that the director tried to commit suicide due to poor reception but scifi author Bill Warren said it was because he was depressed. Well, yeah. I'd be depressed too if my creative effort was met with scorn.

Next we have Troll (1985), which actually had some names in it like Michael Moriarty, June Lockhart (who used to be Timmy's mom on Lassie), Shelley Hack, and Sonny Bono. My favorite critic quote is from Rotten Tomatoes, "An insufferable piece of tripe that may or may not have inspired "Harry Potter"..."

Then there's The Concorde - Airport '79 (1979), which got a measly 20% on the tomato meter. This "film was laughed off the screen during its initial screening for industry members and press, on the Universal studio lot," according to IMDb.

Coming in fourth is George Lucas' Howard the Duck (and you thought Jar Jar should rot in hell), which got a horrifically awful 16% on the tomato meter.

Fifth and last is Shark Night 3D, a new movie which got an even more dismal 15%!!! "A joyless excursion into the water that doesn't even produce good gore or nudity thanks to the neutered PG-13 rating." I think that sums it up nicely, don't you?

Oh, and I haven't actually seen any of these movies except for Troll and I hardly remember it. But I  will offer one final movie that could be considered bad, although perhaps not worst. It's The Beastmaster, with Marc Singer, which I used to watch on cable back in  the day when I had Cinemax, Showtime, and HBO. This was one we watched a million times. I know it wasn't a good movie, but it falls into the category of entertaining enough but not so riveting that you can't go into the kitchen and make yourself a snack and come back without worrying you missed something important. It got a 50%.

ok. Now to go see what everyone else had to say about bad movies :)

  6. Quite the list... Beastmaster wasn't too horrible when you think about so many other atrocities that were made.

  10. Have to say I like Beastmaster, and not just because it featured ferrets. Before fantasy movies had a budget this was as good as they got.

When I was a kid, there was one summer where HBO played Beastmaster at least a couple times a day... to the point where we decided 'HBO' stood for "Hey, Beastmaster's On!".
