It's that time of year again...
If you've been following my blog for a while you might know but if not I'll share: it's the Great Pumpkinfest! I'm not sure if we're the only place that does this but it's loads of fun ranging from the pumpkin catapult, in which exceedingly large pumpkins are catapulted onto junk cars, smashing them to bits, to the Pumpkin Regatta, in which grown men make boats out of pumpkins and race about and founder to good cheer. And of course my favorite: the Sacred Carving and Painting of the pumpkins (they don't really call it that, btw). The above is an example from 2009.
Anyhow, next weekend is it and I'll be heading into town with my camera to take lots of pics which I'll then share with you. I can't wait to see what they do with those pumpkins this year...
Oh wow!! What many ways to celebrate the pumpkin! Fantastic!!! Look forward to the pics! take care

ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome! Wish I lived close enough to go to this!
ReplyDeleteLove what they've done with the pumpkins. This made me think of Halloween :) But, the weather over here this week is so weird I'm sitting here in shorts and a tee shirt at 9pm in October.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had this in our town. I love pumpkins and love seeing carvings. It will be great to see the pics.
