I'm glad it's over

Ok, I admit it. I've been a bit grumpy about Christmas this year and I have to tell you; I'm glad it's over. Mind you, I ordinarily love Christmas, especially if I have extra cash to shop because it's fun buying stuff for people even if they don't need it but just want it. It's fun watching them open their presents, see the delight on their faces. I love decorating the tree and getting the lights just right, placing the ornaments in an aesthetically pleasing manner, the presents all wrapped and ribboned. It's the prettiest holiday, in my opinion, and aside from the crass commercialism, a lot of people are genuinely nicer and more giving. Unfortunately, for personal reasons, this holiday was not as happy as I hoped. Which is why I'm glad it's over. Maybe next year will be better.

Meanwhile, I'm working on chapter 8 of LONG WAY HOME, First Impressions (which I co-host with Dianne Salerni )is coming at the beginning of January (see sidebar), and Unicorn Bell (the blog I co-host with Huntress, Charity, and Tara Tyler) is looking for more folks to offer submissions for critiquing (anonymously) and comments. If you're interested we'd love to see you. After all, the more, the merrier, right?

So, how was your holiday? Good? Bad? Get any writing done? And yes, I really am interested :)

ps someone kind sent me a gift certificate to Amazon and guess what I bought? A vacuum!!! Squee!!!

  2. Well your tree was a delight! I loved it!

I'm sorry your Christmas wasn't as happy as you'd hoped. But you got through it and so here's to a good and more positive 2012!

Hooorah for your vacuum cleaner - bye bye dust bunnies! :-) Take care

  3. Christmas was actually *more* fun than I expected. I admit to being grumpy in the days leading up to it, but somehow the actual day made up for it.

Now, I've got a week off from work, and I'm determined to make the best use of every minute of it! This morning: blogs. This afternoon and evening: writing!

  4. Holidays are like that; sometimes great. Sometimes, eh, not so much.

It can only get better, right?

    What kind of vacuum?

  5. Christmas...I'd rather not speak honestly about it; but I will say that I would agree with you. It is a holiday that would be much happier if I had spare change to spend without a second’s thought. It is a day we often hide inside and dream about the ‘what-ifs’. Call others to see what they got and all along we wish that next year will be different...

I bought something off Amazon, too. I don't think I'm allowed to mention what it is, but I can tell you that there will be many fun nights ahead for me...lol. Squee!!!

  6. We had a sort of low-key holiday, and yet I'm still exhausted. Today I plan on spending time critiquing a friend's pages and getting some writing of my own done. I haven't seriously written for four days and I'm starting to get a little jumpy.

    Glad you got that vacuum!!

  7. Huntress, I got a Hoover Windtunnel. It had the best overall rating.

Lost, now I'm curious about what bought on Amazon that will give you many fun nights ;)

LG, yes, off today so back to writing and critting for me and I can't wait to use my new vacuum. Who would thing such a mundane object would make me so excited. lol.

  8. Not the best Christmas but not the worst either. I'm sort of sad it's over but I am also broke, so I am glad I don't have to buy anymore presents. And I haven't gotten any substantial writing done since November because we have a birthday every two weeks up until we hit Christmas so, yup, I'm spent (in both senses). :)

  9. Christmas was great. It's great to get together with the family. The holiday spirit fought back against my incessant cough and a low grade headache that has been trying to take centre stage.
