It's official

Yep. That's right. I am now officially working on LONG WAY HOME and the proof is in the picture. What is that mumbo jumbo you say? Why that, my friends, is my bulletin board which previously had all (ok, maybe not ALL, but most of) my notes on GRIMOIRE. You remember GRIMOIRE, don't you? My little Witchy Regency Romance? No? Well, no matter. It's finished and awaiting a home but I finally decided it was time to take down the old and put up the new in order to make viewing easier. Thus instead of rifling through my 3x5 cards (thank you, Sheri for this idea) I can simply turn my head and look at my bulletin board when I need to know exactly what is in Kass' backpack, how her cell phone is set, or who was in charge of the investigation. It may look like mumbo jumbo to you but to me, that's organization :)

Now, tell me how you're doing with your work. Do you use something similar to keep organized? Oh, and I am still loving my new vacuum and I can tell you my house hasn't been so clean in...well, let's just say a very long time.

  2. I'm not nearly as organized on my current work as I hope to be on my next. Might take more time to get started, but I suspect it saves a lot of time in the long run. Good luck with your new project.

Good for you with your new vacuum. Mine sucks. (And I don't mean that in a good way.)

  3. Happy day to you! I love bulletin boards, story boards or whatever they're called. I'm not using one for my current story but for the next one I plan to. This is all in my head and some days my head is mush. The storyboard would have helped. I'm half finished and suppose I'll continue going with my mishmash of notes on scraps of paper and a folder jammed full of research. That's what happens when a story is being told over a number of years. Yikes. It's been a few years. I need to get to "the end."
    Blessings.

  5. Looks great. I wish I had room to do this in my house. I think my kids would destroy it. When I finally get my own space, I want to try it though. Thanks.

  8. Old Kitty you have no idea how lovely it is :)

Susan, sorry about yours; that's what my old was like: non-sucking.

Barb, Mina, and Meredith, it started with just the 3x5 cards to keep my notes on and eventually I just got a bulletin board for the wall next to my next to post them on. Doesn't take up too much space either and like I said, all I have to do is turn my head to look.

Tara, it's in my room so I don't walk by it but it's right next to my desk so can't help but see it.

  9. That's clever! I just write it all down on notebook paper.

  10. I use an Excel spreadsheet that I open when I am writing. Then I can click back and forth to remember the name of a character, or how old he/she is, or the name of a town, or a pond etc. Every time I add something new to the story, I add it to the spreadsheet too, and sort it alphabetically, so I can find thing easily.

  11. Alex, that's what I used to do but then I had to keep opening the notebook and flipping through pages. So far I've found having the 3x5's and the bulletin board most helpful.

    Liza, that's a good idea!

  12. That's SUCH a good idea! I have taken to writing post-it notes that are sticking all over the wall, but they fall down and can stolen by a cat...I found four under the bed with a stash of toys when I was cleaning this weekend. It might be time to invest in a bulletin board!
