Last week I went into my local bookstore - The Maine Coast Book Shop - to spend the lovely gift certificates I received for my birthday. Needless to say it did not take me long to find something and while I was perusing the YA section - where I picked up - the owner of the bookstore (who knows I love to read) approached me and asked if I might let them know what I thought of a couple of YA books. Of course I was more than happy to oblige. So back she goes after the ARCS and comes out with 10 (!!!) books, much to my delight:
MAGGOT MOON - read, mixed feelings
CREWELL - reading and enjoying
THE DROWNED CITIES
THE MAGICIAN KING
THE DARKEST MINDS
OUT OF THE EASY
A THUNDEROUS WHISPER
PULSE
SUMMER AND BIRD
JINX
plus I got THE PASSENGER, by Andrew Smith, THE GREAT NIGHT by Chris Adrian AND a $15 rewards certificate because I shop there enough. Am I a happy camper or what?
Happy Halloween all :)
Wow! Was that great timing or what. Good to know someone will read and enjoy those review copies. And it gets to be YOU.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm very excited!
DeleteYay for such a great place!!! Enjoy your reads and have a great halloween! Take care

thank you and say hello to Charlie and Gumdrop :)
DeleteSounds like you're going to have a lot of great reading time. I've got 77 books on my Kindle.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween.
Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly
oh, yes, lots of reading to do :)
DeleteIt really paid to be an avid reader! What a treat. Of those, I've only heard of/read The Drowned Cities. Liked it as well as Ship Breaker, though it's a very different story.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
glad you liked it. The lady at the book store thought I wouldn't like it as much.
DeleteOh. Small town bookstores. I miss them so much. I mean sure Barnes and Noble has a great selection but the atmosphere is so clinical and sterile. No nooks, no window seats, no amazing book smell.
ReplyDeleteours is awesome. There's a cafe attached, owned by the same folks, and if you sign up for their frequent buyer program you get a gift cert. like I did every so often. I probably get two a year which means by shopping locally I get two free books a year as a thank you. Pretty darn cool eh?
DeleteThe joys of being a regular. Of course, we don't have any local bookstores around these parts. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm so gad we have one and hope it never goes away.
DeleteHow awesome is that!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture btw.
pretty darn awesome indeed :)
DeleteThat sounds like a seriously cool bookstore. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteHow COOL, Marcy...
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween and belated Birthday!

DeleteWow, that is fantastic! That's why I like local book shops. Get to know the owners and they are great people to know!
