no rest

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! For a while there it felt like I was wading through quicksand trying to get to the fabled ending of my tale. I was having trouble bridging where I was to where I wanted to be. So I wrote the very end, the last scene, and voila! Everything pretty much fell into place and I wrote a couple thousand words between yesterday and today. Go me!

How's your Monday going?

  2. I have sometimes written the last scene to cement it in my mind and help me get through a difficult in-between part.

Of course, when I actually get to the ending, I usually change the scene. Maybe not what happens, but most of the words get changed dynamically, because the characters have actually lived the in-between action now, and they have different things they want to say.

  3. That's awesome! I need a clear ending so I know where I am going.

  5. Good for you, Marcy! I'm thinking that's what I need to do--write the ending and maybe a scene in the middle. Have a great day!

  7. Go You! I wish I could write that much at one sitting. I wish I could write that much today, in fact. I really need to. So behind.

  11. Lately, every time I see light at the end of the tunnel, it's an oncoming train.

Glad things are falling into place for you.

  13. YAY for getting there! Hope it all comes together well! I'm editing and have some spots that need work. I have a couple 'not-quite-done' in the pile though, that have some trouble coming together at the end... I need to get back to them...

  16. Don go into the light! Oh wait, that's a good thing in this case. I've written out of sequence upon occasion just to get some movement going. Writing backwards is easier than it sounds.

I spent the day unraveling the knot that is typically Monday.

  21. Congratulations! My Monday was good. Productive, but not in a writing sense. However, it's geared toward writing, as it involved manual labor to complete my new office!!

  27. I'm impressed. It sounds like writing out the end scene clarified how to get there. Nice work (and also inspiring as a blunder through my current rewrite. Love your new picture at the top, btw.

  28. I love this. I almost always write the ending first. Twice now my endings started out as Short Stories and then I added the beginning and middle. OK, I'm a little goofy.

I'll get back into the swing eventually, but for now I have other demands on my time, so I guess something has got to give. Glad you are enjoying your writing.

My Monday was great! We drove to our favorite place and now I'm sitting on a mountain ridge for two weeks with very little planned. I may even get some writing done!
