Great Blue Heron, that is, who was hanging out in the small pond (more like a marshy pond, no more than a few feet deep) next to my house. Trying to stab a meal, no doubt. I was hoping to get a pic of the Canada Geese and their goslings who live there but they must've been napping. The Great Blue was quite cooperative however; I was able to take a bunch of pics and he never moved.
Have a fabulous Sunday :)
Good shot! Except for his long beak, he really blends.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he thought he was invisible...
ReplyDeleteCool photo. And look at all those lilly pads. I love summer. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeletethat is so lovely, Marcy. Back in my old house in which I grew up we had a nearby lake/marsh at which the swan would gather during winter since the water in some parts wouldn't freeze and they had food there.
ReplyDeleteHerons are great photo subjects. Lucky you having them nearby. We see them in our area, as well as the Canada Geese (we're in Canada, natch).
ReplyDeleteI love the sound the geese make when they fly over. I remember hearing them at my aunt's house in the south when I was a child. It was such a distinctive sound. (they were probably headed for Florida)
Awesome you live so close to this.
ReplyDeleteYou have a fabulous Sunday, too.
ReplyDeleteHugs and chocolate,
Shelly
Thanks for sharing. The birds around here are quite a bit smaller. *grins* Actually we do get some geese that fly overhead. One can hear them honking in the early morning or late evening. Sunday has been pretty good. I got some reading in, am finishing up laundry now and gearing up for my big day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Marcy!
