something new

I think I read a couple of reviews for this book before I bought it (along with HOLD ME CLOSER NECROMANCER by Lish McBride). These are the first new books I’ve bought in quite some time and me being me couldn’t resist reading the first chapter - even tho I’m not quite done with my current read. The author had me for sure with this on page 3

"Shut up," she hissed, coming to a halt in the middle of Maltese Square. God, she thought. How stupid had she been to fall for this petty, pretty, street actor, dress up for him and give him memories like that? Exquisitely stupid."

As for my second purchase, I sneaked and read the first chapter of that one, too, just to get a feel for the narrator and his life, just enough to introduce him to his nemesis, Douglas, 'a powerful and violent necromancer.' Now I'm hard pressed to choose which one to read first. That or this

So, are you reading anything fun? Do tell...

  8. Alex, your own or someone else's?

Isis, I read too many chapters last night.

Natalie, which Wildwood? There were a couple of titles with that name. Leisle & Po looks interesting :)

Susan, those look like some great books!

  9. I just finished Robison Wells's VARIANT, and I have to say Wow, wow, wow.

My next read is THIS DARK ENDEAVOR: THE APPRENTICESHIP OF VIKTOR FRANKENSTEIN. But I haven't been able to bring myself to start it yet, because I'm still wishing there was more to VARIANT. (Do you think if I keep turning on the Kindle, some secret extra pages will appear?)

  10. I really liked Hold Me Closer, Necromancer; I've never come across another book with a necromancer as the MC. :)

  11. I'm halfway through WIDOWMAKER by Cristyn West & Elena Grey, a horror. Am enjoying it so far. Have got sooo many things on my TBR shelf it's sagging under the weight of the books! Highlights include TEMPEST RISING by Tracy Deebs, WILDEFIRE by Karsten Knight, BUILD A MAN by Talli Roland, and FOREST OF SHADOWS by Hunter Shea.
