The new Archmage of Winterhold, Ash:
Yup. That's me - or, my alter ego - who, having found the Staff of Magnus and defeated Ancano (I KNEW he was bad!) was made the new Archmage, complete with all the trappings, including the Archmage's robes (which I am wearing along with a rather attractive circlet that does something I forget now) and the Archmage's quarters at the College of Winterhold. This means I now have two places I can call home.
Meanwhile, the great give away continues and our latest winner is Laura Campbell. Congrats Laura! Hope you find a prize you like :)
Now, for the question of the day. You'll notice I talk about this game I like to play, Skyrim, made by Bethesday Software which also had a hand in my other favorite game, Fallout3. My question to you is what games do you like to play? Computer games? Card games? Board games? Mind games? You tell me and I'll jot your name down in my trusty notebook and enter you into next week's drawing. Good luck!
addendum: Tad Williams' OTHERLAND series is now off the table :(
You play the same types of computer games as I!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy board games, especially trivia games. (I know, big surprise there.)
Need to get back to playing Skyrim. I've already beaten Diablo III five times...
I remember back when Arena first came out and my brother and I dreamed of graphics like Skyrim. I wonder what these games will be like in another 10 years? I can hardly wait :)
DeleteHmmm. I really love Mario Kart. LOL. And Peggle. I'm a little afraid to get involved with role playing games, because I know that I am going to get completely sucked into those worlds. And I like to have time to write. :) But it looks awesome! Next week on my blog, I am going to feature a TED talk in which the presenter tells us that gaming can add YEARS to our lives.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, right??
Wow. that is way cool! Gives me another reason to play. Not that I need one... but I have to add that these games are all at my brother's house on his computer (mine's too slow plus if Skyrim was here I wouldn't get any writing done either!) so I only play on weekends, usually Saturday night. Yep, that's my big excitement for the week!
DeleteI love that pic and description. This looks like something my middle-schooler would love. Sadly, I don't play any type of games. I've never been much of a gamer, even as a kid. Too bookish. And I say "sadly" because my kids love games, so I have to force myself to play with them. :(
ReplyDeleteI've always been bookish, too, but I also love to play games, especially those that take place elsewhere :)
DeleteWhen I play, it's boardgames, and often vintage ones, like Acquire. I also like Monopoly and Settlers of Catan, when I get a chance.
ReplyDeleteI still love Monopoly as well as a lot of card games like Hearts, Whist, and Gin Rummy. I am not familiar with Acquire or Settlers of Catan (will have to look them up!).
DeleteI suppose computer games with my kids like Angry Bird or other apps. We have fun together. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, love the alter ego.
I love my alter ego, too. She's way tougher than I'll ever be :)
DeleteI just know if I got into Skyrim I'd never get out. I can barely stop playing solitaire: gaps, and that's mindless.
ReplyDeleteI'm a board game kind of gal. My favorites are 13 Dead End Drive (kind of fun to kill off the niece and nephew), Chronology, and Masterpiece. I wonder if people can still get a hold of those?
That's why I don't actually own Skyrim. I have to go to my brother's house to play (he has two computers - and yes, he's that much of a geek). I have not played any of those games you mentioned but they sound like fun :)
DeleteI'm old school. I like card games and board games best, especially games based on words or trivia.
ReplyDeleteI love card games and many board games as well as trivial pursuit, which no one seems to play anymore :(
DeleteBut Skyrim is just so immersive, like you've fallen into another world where you can be anyone you want. And hey, do I not look way cooler than in reality?
I don't play many games (I used to get dragged to tournaments by Lu).
ReplyDeleteI used to play chess occasionally. A bit of Civilization on the computer. That is about it
I used to play chess and I wish I'd kept up with it because I stink at it now!
DeleteCongrats to Laura!
ReplyDeleteI've played a number of games over the years (Jewel Quest, House of the Dead, maze games). I have a tendency to get bored with them after a while. Now, I just play Maj Jong Quest before I go to bed. The simplistic matching lets me forget about everything that happened during the day ... zzzz
I used to really like tetrus and every night before I go to bed I play spider solitaire. I think you're right about the simplicity of the game being relaxing.
DeleteI will have to get Skyrim at some point. I liked the other Elder Scrolls games. I don't play many games. I play mindless games with jewels most of the time.
ReplyDeleteIf you played the previous games you'll love skyrim. Just be prepared to become addicted. As I've said before, it's probably a good thing my computer is too slow to play it. However, when I get published I am going to have a kick-ass gaming computer!
DeleteCongrats! I've still to defeat Ancano (he's so tough!) but I'm taking a little detour now becoming the master of the Dark Brotherhood :)
ReplyDeleteMost of the games I play are fantasy ones; Skyrim, Legend of Zelda etc. and most of the real life games I play are fantasy too (Warhammer, Munchkin, Magic the Gathering).
... i'm kind of a one trick pony ;)
It was tough to defeat him! I haven't gotten into the Dark Brotherhood thing in this game but I was the head honcho in Oblivion and boy was that fun :)
DeleteMy son and I used to play Magic. I think I still have my cards.
Congrats Laura,
ReplyDeleteI love classic board games like monopoly, life, risk, and almost any card game...
Yup, love all those games :)
DeleteCongrats to Laura!
ReplyDeleteI love the screenshot.
Thank you! It's a little dark but I do look pretty cool, if I do say so myself! Oh, and that's Lydia behind me, my companion (not like Firefly), who is "sworn to carry my burdens" as she is so fond of saying but also protects my back.
