oh boy, don't I feel like a horse's ass

This morning I erroneously reported that Gene Wilder died. I swear I either heard the news or someone told me but no matter how I first heard it I should've double checked the facts. What a hack! My apologies to everyone who came by and thought it was true and thank you to those who kindly pointed out that perhaps I was mistaken.

Meanwhile the great give away goes on and here's what's left to win:

Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (three books) Tad Williams, fantasy. Highly recommended - by Library Journal and me!

Otherland (four books) scifi/fantasy (I'm reluctant to give this series up but (*gritting teeth*) I will. For you.

The Color of Magic and The Light Fantastic (the first  in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series)

Twlight et al (all four books)Stephanie Meyers

A first chapter critique

Roget's Super Thesaurus

All you have to do to win is be a follower and comment, even if it's just to tell me which prize you'd like. Now for today's question: when was the last time you did something stupid (like pre-decease one of your favorite actors AND announce on your blog) and what was it?

Do tell, because idiots love company :)

  1. I actually went to look it up and saw an "end" date on Wikipedia and articles linking to an obit. But I never saw any official news, so I thought it was true.

I once blasted an email to everyone in my addr book after the Virginia Tech shooting. The email claimed a family had suffered other tragic events immediately following their college-aged child's death in the shooting. I had received the heartfelt email from another friend. It was a hoax. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would begin to circulate such a crazy story in the first place.

    1. I can't even pinpoint where I heard the erroneous info regarding gene Wilder but I'm sure glad he's alive. Glad I'm not the only that's hits post or send a little too soon:)

  2. No worries on the Gene Wilder reporting~ life's been crazy lately and I missed that post of yours, so I missed the worry :) About an hour ago I was making dinner and I left the door open to get air in the hot house. A bunch of flies got in, and I managed to kill all but two. Those two kept flying around the kitchen, mocking me. I was swiping with a towel right and left, but kept missing. Finally one landed right on a knife that I'd just washed and put on the drying towel beside the sink. It was one of three knives I'd been chopping with. Like a moron, I took the bait.

The fly lived and the knife barely missed it when it flew onto the floor. Smart girl, aren't I?

    1. I'm just glad he's still alive - Gene Wilder that is, not the fly!

  3. Well, I did it again...for some reason when it is late at night, I can find whatever tear-jerker movie is on cable (right now, it is Shadowlands), and watch it over my wise husband's objections, only to be reduced to a bawling, running-nosed, splotchy faced wreck right before trying to go to bed.

  6. Hi, Marcy,

Don't sweat it, we all make mistakes.... EVERYONE has at one time or another put their size "whatever" in their mouth.

I've done it so many times, I can't begin to pick out one in particular. My mouth has a mind of it's own. LOL.

LOVE the giveaway. You are too sweet Marcy.

I would enjoy reading the first collection Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn OR the one you don't want to give up, Otherland.

I love fantasy so either one would be AWESOME.

I hope you are enjoying your lovely summer in Maine. BTW I really love your banner photo.

    1. Usually I'm a little more careful about what I right. I'll certainly be more careful next time!

And that awesome header pic was actually taken by my son. He really snaps some good ones.

  11. Otherland sounds great! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. And I'm glad to hear Gene Wilder is still alive and kicking. Nooo, I NEVER do anything embarrassing in social networking. (I'm repressing that time when I tweeted one agent with the same first name of the one I REALLY wanted to tweet!!)

  12. Shew, well, I'm glad he's NOT dead! We all make mistakes. I can't think of an interesting mistake to share right now, but that's definitely not because it hasn't happened, ha!
