hello kitty

I don't know why but I find hello kitty adorable. I mean, c'mon. Just look:

I forget how much this was...$90? More money than I'd spend on a purse. Still it is cute...

Or this, which is cute AND practical, for around $20.

And while I ordinarily DESPISE cat/dog/horse/dolphin/whatever jewelry, I find these irresistibly fun. These were expensive, over $150 I think. But they are fucking cute as hell!

Also around $90. I know. It's ridiculous to pay $90 bucks for a stupid little cat in a kimono. But I still want one.

What's your guilty pleasure of the day?

NOTE: all the above items can be found here.

    1. There's a lot of fun stuff; it's probably a good thing I can't afford any of it!

  2. I recently bought myself a Hello Kitty coloring/sticker book because I am literally being swallowed up by all the boy stuff in my house. Now, when my son wants me to color with him I have my own girlie coloring book to use. It's wonderful! It was only $4 so I don't feel guilty. ;)

    1. I don't think you should feel bad anyway; gaming is necessary, isn't it?

    1. I'm on a very strict budget right now so it's all just wishes right now. And I certainly can't imagine spending $90 for a bag (I don't even carry a bag for chrissakes!).

  5. LOL -- you know what my character Addie did to Hello Kitty in her prison cell in my last WIP. I'm afraid that's what I'm going to think of whenever I see that pert little feline for a long, long time.

    1. I know, right? Plus it looks like it could hold a lot and in my mind, why carry a bag if it isn't going to do some work for you?

  10. Hello Kitty? It's huge in Japan, right?

And I'm so boring. Right now Vikings are my guilty pleasure. And Sons of Anarchy before that. For some reason, I have a thing for shows about violent blond men. :P

  13. I knit my niece a Hello Kitty hat several years ago. I don't think I even have a picture of it. Too bad--it was cute. But she's too big for it now.

  14. Hi, Marcy,

Hey, why not? If they make you happy! Life has SOOOO many stresses and hardships SO if a white kitty dressed in a Kimono brightens your day, then I say GO HAVE IT!

I have my obsessions too. For almost a decade from 2001-2009 I was obsessed EVERYTHING Harry Potter, from first edition books to coffee mugs, bookmarks, bookends, watches, you name it. SO I totally understand.

  15. I totally know what you mean about 'guilty pleasures'. We went to a comic/game/anime convention, this past weekend and spent over $200.00 on stuff..such as posters, t-shirts, and a drawing by my favorite comic book artist, George Perez.

Not something we always do,so we can justify it :D

It never hurts to indulge, sometimes.

  16. Hello kitty is very popular and has made it into all kinds of pop culture from Big Bang Theory to basically anything featuring young beautiful women. It doesn't surprise me that it would appeal to you :)

    1. It surprises me! I don't usually go for trendy stuff like that but every now and then I'll take a fancy to something fluffy. Like my love of What Not To Wear.
