Q (played by John de Lancie) has to be one of the most interesting characters on Star Trek Next Gen. I say this because my feelings about him changed so much from the time I first saw him. I despised his arrogance, hated the power he had and the way he wielded it. I couldn't wait for Picard to best him. But the more I saw of Q the more I loved the episodes with him until they became some of my favorite.
Do you have a favorite recurring character in Star Trek?
"Q"! I loved him! He was an awesome character. Way before the show was on, I played D&D and had a magic-user I named "Q." (Yeah, we won't discuss how many years ago that was or how geeky I am...)
ReplyDeleteFun post! :-)
Q is popular today! I always liked his appearances. Picard was my favorite though.
ReplyDeleteMy only real exposure to Star Trek was the JJ Abrams movie. And in that film, I really loved Scottie.
ReplyDeletehe is my absolute favourite and I love his crazy philosophy for having some intergalactic fun :) I wish he would send me his equally crazy son for some babysitting :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a Spock (Leonard Nimoy) fan.
ReplyDeleteI tend to go for the logical guys, too. Data is also one of my fave characters.
DeleteI do like Spock, but I have to admit I haven't watched Star Trek in a long time. My dad loved it, so I used to watch it growing up.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I got into it , too; my dad.
Delete'Q' was an interesting character and they sure chose an interesting actor to play him.
ReplyDeleteI saw John at a Star Trek con, once. Seemed like a nice guy and really enjoyed the fans.
Wish I did...
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit, I never really "got" Startrek... DON'T KILL ME.... LOL. I guess maybe I really need to sit down and actually watch the original movie... No I never saw it.. BAD MICHAEL!
To truly appreciate it, you need to start with the original show and then watch in linear fashion. Some series are better than others, some movies slightly cheesy but overall a pretty cool franchise.
DeleteMy favorite recurring character was 7 of 9. I just loved her.
ReplyDeleteShe was a regular. But she can still be your favorite.
DeleteShe was pretty hot as I recall.
DeleteSomething we REALLY agree on!
ReplyDeletelol.
DeleteI'm weird. I know nothing about Q. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a letter of the alphabet as far as you know. ;)
DeleteHe was in Star Trek Next Gen. He was extremely powerful - God-like - and he was a big pain in Picard's ass.
DeleteI don't remember a ton about Q other than I liked him. :)
ReplyDeleteYou knew it was going to be a fun episode if Q showed up.
ReplyDeleteI always loved Worf. I was happy when he transferred to DS9.
Worf was pretty awesome, too.
DeleteGarak. Plain, simple Garak.
ReplyDeleteQ was always fun. I named a cat after him a long time ago.
ReplyDeletePicard was always my fave. Such a renaissance man. *swoon*
I knew a cat named Picard; he was a Sphynx (hairless) cat - no shit!
DeleteQ is awesome! I read a few books with him as well and couldn't get enough. Picard was always my favorite. I loved that he took the time to think things through before acting.
ReplyDeleteYes, Picard was very different than Kirk, but I think that made it easier to like him.
DeleteMy favorite is Spock old and new and the new Kirk.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recurring character was Guinian. There was something mysterious about her that was just plain fun. Then, of course, she did stab Q ...
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about Q working my way through TNG. At first I was a bit put off by the fact he was in so many episodes . . . but now I wish he was in more of them. LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe Captain and Data were some of my favorite characters from that series. I don't have a top favorite recurring character per se, as many of them were equally enjoyable.
