I found this new toy...
I know, we've all found new toys before, myself included, but I have a rule about new toys (guidelines really), and the rule is that if it goes over 10,000 words then it's a wip (work in progress). In the case of this new toy, not only has it gone over 10K, I've actually been writing at a rather amazing pace: 5,000 words a week! That's like four times what I usually manage!
So. I've come to a decision. I'm going to throw myself into this little endeavor wholeheartedly and see how long my muse will stay. That means I won't be posting this month (I know, so sad), but it doesn't mean I won't be visiting. I've been lax on that front lately which is another reason to skip posting in favor of visiting.
So that's the plan for December. Meanwhile I'll look forward to your posts and the return of First Impressions in January (January 3 to be exact), in which Dianne Salerni and I critique someone's first page. Maybe a NaNo project, or perhaps something new and shiny you found. Interested? It's easy as pie, just send the first page of your complete or incomplete novel (about 300-400 words) to marcy@tidewater.net or dksalerni@gmail.com.
I love new toys like that. I haven't really had one in a while, so I completely understand skipping posts in order to play with it. Good luck with it, and have fun.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had one like this in a while either so I AM going to have fun with it! Thanks :)
DeleteHey, if you're on a roll, you have to go for it. Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteGo get'em, Marcy! When the muse speaks, we must listen. Need anything. Give me a shout!
ReplyDeletethis post started in such a naughty way :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a naughty elf!

DeleteOooh, I love new toys. I have one that's begging for attention, distracting me from the one that's almost finished. Sigh. Guess I can do both.
ReplyDeleteI've done that, but it's hard.
DeleteGod luck Marcy! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteOh I will!

DeleteI love new toys. Can't wait to hear about it. :) You have to go with it while it's hot!!
ReplyDeleteNew toys are such fun. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI am!
DeleteYay! I hope you're still writing like a maniac. My creative juices are beginning to leak out my ears while I work on edits and pretend I don't have five hundred new projects begging to be written. I'm dying to burn through 1 to 2,000 words a day, but no. I have to be a good girl and stay on schedule. =)
ReplyDeleteThat's hard. I had edits but I'm done with them for now so I'm giving this new thing all I got while I can!
DeleteI am still writing like a crazy person but it's good :)
ReplyDeleteI hope things are still whipping right along on that new WIP. That's a doggone impressive word count output.
ReplyDeleteA very Merry Christmas to you, and all the best in the new year.
Same to you, Susan, and I AM whipping along!
DeleteWriting like a crazy person is a very good thing- keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy holiday season :)
Thank you and Happy Holiday to you :)
