Martin Luther King Jr.

"Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think."

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

"Nothing in this world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

"I refuse to accept the view that man is so tragically bound tot he starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality...I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word."
Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.

  1. He was a man with a vision. From that last quote, I suspect a true man of God as well.

  2. The last quote if my favorite. I can't believe how racist people still are. And some days I believe it's getting worse.

    1. Sadly it seems that way, or maybe it was just bubbling under the surface and now it's erupted again.

  3. Thank you. I love that last quote. I don't believe things have to stay the way they are. People can change - it might take another twenty years, but it is possible.

  6. The sooner we learn to view the world as a community the better. No us and them, but only us.
A true man of wisdom. And compassion. And integrity. We need that. Perhaps now more than ever.

  7. MLK was a brilliant man. We live in Atlanta, so we've been to the MLK Center, his home, and his church, and it's quite an experience. I hope there are some others who are willing to pick up where he left off now, because we're going to need that kind of voice in the foreseeable future.

  9. "Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think." - UGH, I had no idea how true this was until 2016.

  10. Beautiful words. I still lament our loss in this great man's wrongful death.
