Meanwhile...Fallout 4, Revisions, and Something New

In addition to enjoying my new house, I've also been having a lot of fun playing Fallout 4.

Fallout out 4 is a first-person 'shooter' type game, though it isn't all about shooting. Set in the same universe as Fallout 3, the game begins in a vault like its predecessor, but unlike Fallout 3, your character has been cryogenically (is that a word?) frozen only to wake up and witness the murder of their spouse and kidnapping of their son, which of course propels them out of the vault and into the world.

I'm playing the vanilla version, which means I don't 'have' to sleep or eat, and the world isn't as vivid as it could be. I prefer to play modded, because it makes gameplay a bit more real, but I know zip about installing mods (I know, I could probably watch it done on Youtube but...waaay too lazy) so vanilla it is. It's still fun. I've made a good start helping the settlers in Sanctuary, kicked a bunch of raiders out of places, and rescued a Sith (Synthetic Human) detective who will hopefully help me find my son.

Meanwhile, I've also been revising my Paranormal Mystery BELL, BLACK & BRIAR, set in an unnamed city in the late alternative 1950's. I had some fun researching that era, especially the cars

decor

architecture

and the clothes

I would totally wear these. Aren't they adorable?

Finally, I started something new and different, an MG story, which I've never written before. Luckily my CP is well-versed in all things MG :)

So, what's new with you? Writing anything new? Playing any cool games? Glad summer is here?

  1. I'll take the car.
Fallout 4 is awesome. It's not difficult to install the modules though, especially if you're playing on the PS4. (And not hard on the computer either.)

    1. I'm playing on my new alienware laptop :) I should probably at least look to see if I can do it before assuming it's too hard, eh?

  2. My boyfriend loves Fallout 4 and plays it everyday. He's got lots of mods. Sometimes I watch but am too busy to get addicted to it.

    1. I don't play everyday, otherwise I wouldn't get any writing done!

  3. Only "new" game I'm playing is a gin game on my phone. And I've been playing since Thanksgiving, so not so new. I fear if I ever get into real gaming, I'll never do anything else.

    1. Gaming can be addictive, which is why I limit myself.

  4. At least you're enjoying yourself! It is summer, you know...

  5. As much as I love to play games, it's a good thing I never got into playing any electronic ones. I'll stick with Scrabble. (Which I have never played online, because I KNOW I'd get addicted.)

It's cool that your WIP is set in the '50s. So is mine... only I didn't have to do a whole lot of research to remember them... HA

    Have a super weekend.

    1. Yes, I do have to limit myself, and I do play scrabble on line - with too many people! But it's fun...

  6. Sounds like you've got lots good going on. Awesome. I'm still plugging away on a novelette series. That's about all I want to do. ~grin~ I'm hating summer's heat and humidity though the back patio isn't too bad this morning. Need to pull weeds but was too exhausted after mowing the lawn yesterday and don't feel like sweating buckets again today. Oh, well. Happy writing!

    1. It hasn't been too hot or humid here yet but I'm sure it's coming. Keep plugging away :)

  8. I don't do the video game thing. My grandmother gave us some shoes almost exactly like that when I was a little girl and we used them for dress up.

  9. I'm not much for games and haven't been writing much lately either, but I've been on the water a lot!
